Job Summary
This role will oversee all areas of corporate accounting operations (e.g., Bank accounting operations, Holding Company accounting operations, mortgage accounting operations, broker-dealer accounting operations, etc.). In addition, this role will supervise the consolidation of the corporate accounting forecast and oversee the analysis of forecast vs. actual results. This role will have oversight of certain financial systems, ensuring that corporate finance/accounting systems are configured in compliance with GAAP accounting and that measures that go into determining product profitability (e.g., expected losses) are complete and accurate. Finally, this position may lead future accounting projects, such as implementing a new general ledger/ERP system and/or accounting for acquisitions.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees corporate accounting operations - Directs, plans, leads, communicates and executes the preparation of monthly accounting operations (e.g., review of month-end close and related analyses and reconciliations), and provides support to Executives and Audit Committee of the Board. This responsibility will include driving automation of manual processes, ensuring financial systems are configured in compliance with GAAP, and establishing accounting operations, including chart of accounts, journal entries and internal controls, for new products or services. Serves as the expert advisor on general accounting operations questions in order to support our finance, treasury, line of business, and other partners.
- Oversees specific areas of financial systems - ensures financial systems are configured in accordance with GAAP accounting, and that accounting metrics that are used in determining the profitability of products, clients, geographies, etc., is complete and accurate.
- Leads special projects that involve corporate accounting that may be technical and complex, such as acquisition accounting (e.g., due diligence, preparation of proformas, consolidation of reporting entities, etc.,) projects to realize cost efficiencies, and/or implementation of new systems/ERP.
- Oversees the consolidation of the corporate accounting forecast and analysis of forecast vs. actual results - Works with executive management and various business leaders throughout the organization to ensure timely and accurate integration of key assumptions and projections for rolling forecasts which may include financial projections of merger and acquisition related activities. Leads improvement to the rolling forecast and annual planning processes as well as expansion into more revenue-based financial modeling and analytics. Ensures proper alignment of financial analysis with corporate financial targets. Presents financial analyses to executive management and/or Board of Directors. Develops and enhances processes to ensure alignment of corporate targets with credit, capital, liquidity, and other financial allocations.
- Manages the day-to-day activities of the operational accounting area. Provides leadership, direction and growth opportunities to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning or directing work, appraising performance, disciplining team members and resolving problems. Works with the Human Resources Department to resolve more complex team member-related issues.
- Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.

Minimum Education:
- Requires a level of knowledge normally gained through completion of an undergraduate or masters degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum Experience:
- 15 years experience
Certifications:
- CPA
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- 15 years of accounting experience
- 10 years of supervisory experience, expertise in GAAP accounting, proficient knowledge of financial systems and model
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Masters degree in business or accounting, "Big 4" public accounting experience, banking industry experience
