Job Description
SUMMARY: In this role, the Credit Specialist needs to establish and maintain effective work relationships with new and existing customers through a high degree of professionalism and excellent interpersonal/communication skills. Have the ability to handle collections, financial analysis, account reconciliation, and customer service as described below. Assist the controller with recommendations on credit application approval/denial based on research and analysis. Collecting our cash in a timely manner is critical.
Credit:
- Credit reviews for new/existing customers (make recommendations to management)
- Update line of credit in SAP
- Processes letters of credit
- Coordinates payment guarantees as needed
- Review/approve payment terms
Collections:
- Works closely with project managers to understand status of projects in relation to collecting payments
- Ensures down payment and prior to ship payments are billed and collected on a timely basis
- Communicates with customer proactively to ensure timely payments and works closely with customers and project managers to ensure we can collect on past due payments
- Work in various customer portals to enter invoices and request payment.
- Invoice down payments and progress payments to the customer in accordance with the contract.
- Communicates and coordinates with collection agencies and attorneys.
- Makes recommendations for bad debt write offs and process accordingly.
- Process credit card charges for customers.
- Apply cash to customer accounts daily.
- Attend meetings and provide input regarding customer account status.
- Maintains tax records and files.
- Completes balance sheet reconciliations as assigned.
- Applies and reconciles inter-company payments.
- Reconcile outstanding AR with intercompany AP for month end
- Internal control audits as assigned.
- Year-end tax and audit schedules.
- Actively works to improve processes, procedures and KPI’s.
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a minimum of 2 year degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- Must have at least 3 years of experience working in a Collections capacity
- Must have at least 3 years working in a manufacturing environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- SAP experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner with other functions and foster teamwork.
- Ability to participate/lead in problem solving activities, pro-actively suggest improvements, and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to perform a sequence of operations with minimal supervision and/or independently.
- Ability to be flexible to handle multiple and changing priorities/deadlines and handle stressful situations.
- Knowledge of MS Office, basic Windows skills.
- Have a professional aptitude and ability to represent Company in a professional manner.
