Responsibilities:
Syntelligent is seeking a Cartographic Analyst (Feature Data Production) - Journeyman level with an active TS/SCI for an awarded and funded contract supporting a government customer in the Springfield, VA area.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
- Supporting Standard Nautical Chart production by performing cartographic analyst functions supporting the Enterprise Product on Demand (ePODs) production process
- Notice to Mariners production in order to enhance the timeliness of updated nautical information reaching customers
- Recompilation or updating maritime features and attributes in ESRI based FG MOD production environment
- Extracting features from a variety of sources including but not necessarily limited to rasterized nautical charts, digital hydrographic survey data and ortho-rectified imagery
- Data Conversion/migration
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
- Expertise and experience in geography, cartography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) which includes skill in ArcGIS applications.
- Demonstrated Feature Data Production experience
- Expertise and experience in creating shapefiles, geo-databases, and features.
- Knowledge of geospatial analysis software suites (GIS commercial software packages such as ArcGIS, ERDAS & SocetSet, including common office software to include spreadsheets and word processing) used by NGA to accomplish its mission.
- Knowledge of digital cartography, image processing, geographical information systems (GIS), geospatial production techniques and NGA digital data formats.
- Expertise in research information gathering for the following sources: Primary legal documents that pertain to the delimitation, demarcation and maintenance of the boundary, including textual descriptions, coordinate lists, reports and accompanying maps, native maps, secondary source maps, and historic maps used for extraction and comparison. Mapping imagery for stereo and mono extraction at various resolutions using digital terrain elevation data sets.
- Expertise in preparing source material for digitizing, attribution, digitizing boundaries from georeferenced and ortho-rectified sources, applying projection, datum, and coordinate transformations, geo-referencing and ortho-rectifying source materials (maps, imagery) and extracting vectors from stereo imagery or elevation data.
- (REQUIRED) Current GEOINT Professional Certification – Fundamentals (GPC-F) or ability to obtain it within 6 months of when government resumes the requirement.
Years of experience and Education:
- At least 3 and up to 10 years of relevant, demonstrated geospatial/cartographic analysis experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the geospatial support services may count for up to 4 years of this experience, but there must be some demonstrated experience
Clearance Level Required: Active TS/SCI security clearance and willingness to obtain a CI polygraph when directed.

The likely salary range for this position is $61,000 - $65,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, Spot bonuses, and program-specific awards. In addition, Syntelligent provides a variety of benefits to all our Full-Time employees.
