Job Description
The Art Exhibition Operations Coordinator supports the management and operation of the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) gallery in conjunction with all other VPA exhibitions and programming. Supports faculty and student exhibition and programming.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and two years administrative work experience in a gallery, museum, or arts organization preferred OR Master’s Degree in closely related field required.
  • Driver’s License required.

Job Specific Qualifications
  • Required to move about work area, between galleries, offices, and storage areas.
  • Stand and/or sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be comfortable climbing ladders.
  • Occasionally lifting 25 lbs.
  • Occasional night and/or weekend hours required.

Responsibilities
Serve as the art exhibition operations coordinator for the College of VPA gallery. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing operating procedures for exhibition spaces including collaborating & coordinating with faculty and students across depts.
  • Leading collaboration w faculty & students on development of exhibition schedule, including annual Bachelor/Master of Fine Art student shows, as well as faculty, alumni, & visiting artist exhibitions.
  • Managing exhibition calendar, operations, and installation/deinstallation processes. Supporting related receptions, workshops, lectures, & community engagement events.
  • Responsible for oversight of gallery budget, maintenance, policies & procedures, facility documentation, & safety & security. Performing complex administrative tasks: payroll, honorariums, contracts, travel arrangements and itineraries, reimbursements, purchasing, etc. in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, supervision, & evaluation of graduate & undergraduate student employees.
  • Collecting, maintaining, & reporting out statistical data including visitation, programing, & other gallery activities.
  • Attending University events & meetings to engage and network with staff and faculty associated with the various museum and cultural centers across campus & within the broader Syracuse community.


Support marketing and fundraising initiatives. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Work with advancement and development offices to identify funding opportunities.
  • Help to draft narratives for related grant opportunities.
  • Work with VPA Director of Communications to develop and implement publicity, marketing, and social media plan.
  • Document exhibitions by creating digital materials that can be used to support engagement, marketing, and fundraising efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
