Reporting to the Sr. Director – Corporate Social Responsibility, this position is responsible for supporting internal and external stakeholder engagement related to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability issues, Sysco’s CSR-related reporting efforts, as well as other sustainability-related research and policy development.
Specific Responsibilities:
Program Development
35%
Volunteerism: Develop and manage Volunteer Tracker and Volunteer Recognition Program. Organize associate volunteer events for Sysco Corporate associates. Work cross-functionally to plan and organize other CSR related events (e.g., blood drives). Create supplementary materials (e.g., job aids, FAQs, one-pagers) for associates. Work with Global Communications and HR leads to promote volunteerism and create recognition opportunities for associates. Develop approach to leverage Sysco To Go and other communication channels to increase associate engagement in volunteering. Works with Senior Director CSR to maximize volunteer partner relationships. Provides volunteer support and direction to Associate Resource Groups (ARGs).
Progress Tracking

ACOP: Develop project plan for annual data collection process for palm oil for RSPO’s Annual Communication of Progress Report. Collaborate with suppliers and Sysco companies to collect palm oil data. Engage with suppliers that are noncompliant to Sysco Palm Oil Policy. Develop improvement plan for data collection process for next data collection process
CDP: Lead quantitative and qualitative data collection process for CDP Climate Change and Water Security questionnaires. Engage with third party consultants to finalize and verify data. Engage with SMEs to retrieve updated information and data for CDP Climate change and Water Security questionnaires
CSR report: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support the research, analysis, writing, image creation, editing, and operation or supervision of production from layout through printing, distribution, and posting on website. Additionally, supports development of online sustainability report and related app, materials to support sales organization
Analysis and Research

Support the company’s responses to sustainability-related surveys from customers, suppliers, and investors
Provide research, analytics and summaries based on current Sysco CSR initiatives to guide Sysco decision-making processes as Sysco expands its CSR strategy
Support global CSR partners with research and analytic needs as required
Support the Corporate Social Responsibility team in development and execution of the company’s long-term CSR strategy
Proactively research social responsibility and sustainability trends and issues and provide concise summaries for senior management
Support the development of responses from external stakeholders regarding sustainability-related inquiries
Support research and compilation of food waste reduction and recovery best practices, technologies, models and policies
Staff and Develop

Remain current on sustainability, social responsibility and related political, regulatory and industry trends.
Learn the company’s leaders, strategies, operating units, technologies, and financial performance expectations

Support creation and development of communication materials for CSR news and strategy updates
Support development of reports and sustainability inquiries by reviewing and editing information
Create presentation materials and other communication materials as needed for projects the Analyst oversees
Communicate via meetings, calls, summary decks and materials with CSR team and cross-functional teams for various projects Analyst oversees
Maintain CSR inbox to ensure timely responses by associates, customers, supplier, and investor inquiries
Experience, skills, and knowledge required
Bachelor degree or 5 years equivalent experience, preference for degree in sustainability or environmental science
Two years or more of experience in corporate social responsibility or sustainability positions for a public company, a consulting agency or relevant experience preferred
CSR/Sustainability reporting experience preferred
General understanding of various sustainable certification programs, e.g. MSC, Certified Humane, etc.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills, as well as attention to detail
Solid PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Tableau knowledge and skills
Strong interpersonal skills and an outstanding ability to communicate with others at all levels of the organization
An energetic, efficient, and resourceful team player and individual contributor
