Overview:
The Fiber Construction Manager plays a vital role in ensuring quality and timely deliveries of our fiber services along with additional services to customers throughout the San Luis Obispo County and surrounding areas. Skilled in network design and engineering with an understanding of OSP construction. This position will have project management skills, the ability to work independently, knowledge of construction practices for outside plant cable placement, and sufficient experience with computers. The position requires telecommunications construction experience and the ability to travel.
Responsibilities:
- Planning and designing fiber routes
- Serve as a single-point of contact between project management and construction execution providing accurate status information on the progress to project management
- Lead the internal and external permitting personal and government agencies
- Attend coordination and progress meetings
- Responsible for supervision and management of field crews for assigned client projects
- Accountable for managing the overall field performance, including scope, cost, safety, quality, schedule, implementation and customer satisfaction
- Perform site pre-inspections and coordinate post-construction audits
- Work with many different resources; implementation team, network engineers, field personnel and contractors to ensure quality and timely delivery of our services
- Assist in troubleshooting fiber circuits and other services
- Design and document fiber routes for fiber circuits
- Create and maintain appropriate as build documentation
- Analyze and recommend upgrade/expansion strategies
- Work flexible hours, after hours work which would include nights and weekends
- Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity with minimal supervision.
- On call rotation responding and restoring services for emergency calls
- Participates in engineering, permit and construction processes
- Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, NESC and NEC, etc ; as well as following procedures as outlined in the Installation, Technical, Operations, and Safety Manuals, and Employee Handbook)
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Experience with fiber optic network documentation tools (OSP Insight preferred)
- College degree or equivalent experience
- Strong analytical skills – ability to translate data to strategy
- Ability to think creatively and strategically
- Strong communication skills are absolutely essential as is a cooperative attitude toward co-workers, customers and contractors
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Visual design skills are a strong plus
- Ability to interact effectively with other team members.
- Must be able to work independently without supervision
- Ability to adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies
- Valid driver's license, auto insurance, with a satisfactory driving record
