Electrical Systems Designer Job Objective
Responsible for implementing the electrical designs. Performs CAD work to develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and bills of materials.
Electrical Systems Designer Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Creates custom detail designs of panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and conduit schedules.
- Interfaces with system engineering to ensure designs and layouts are appropriate for the system.
- Investigates and recommends component substitutions as needed to Systems Engineering and department manager. Coordinates with the purchasing department and vendors to acquire the necessary materials to complete projects.
- Creates drawing packages and provides this information to document control.
- Assists other electrical system designers by finalizing drawings and redlining documents to correct information based on feedback from production and field service.
- Interfaces with the production panel shop to track the build phase against design and to collect feedback.
- Participates in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and in-house testing as requested to support FAT activities and to learn the functions of the companies systems.
Electrical Systems Designer Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Associates Degree in an electrical field or other technical field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of technical and/or professional experience in an engineer-to-order environment
- Experience with Electrical Design software required with a strong working knowledge of Solidworks Electrical, ePlan P8, or ProPanel Electrical CAD
- Knowledge of CAD software
