Primary Function
A creative-minded, account planner with an innate curiosity to want to understand people, culture, and the world, overall, and most importantly, a burning desire to dig into what makes them tick. Successful at distilling facts and insights to create an inspiring understanding of the target audience. Part anthropologist, part insights finder, and part trend watcher - this role will lead creative strategy development through ownership of creative briefs and provision of creative guidance for the creative in-house agency. Focus on enterprise brand efforts.
Develop audience insights and creative messaging for internal and external communication and advertising and maintains the relevance of existing brand standards by guiding creative development. Senior Strategic Planner leads strategic efforts as assigned, supports Planners with larger creative efforts, monitors brand health and competitors, and conducts other Planning related duties as assigned. Must have experience developing creative briefs.
*Remote Hybrid-only if able to go into a regional office at least two times a week (Austin, TX; Charlotte, NC; Chesapeake, VA; Colorado Springs, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Plano, TX; Tampa, FL)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop brand/enterprise creative briefs for creative development
- Develop inspiring and timely audience profiles, insights and understanding - a critical part of creative briefs targeting Members and Prospects for advertising initiatives within Marketing/In-house creative agency.
- Collaborate with creative, brand management and project management teams in support of marketing efforts and advertising campaigns.
- Represent the Brand and Creative Strategy team in creative presentations
- Champion and bring to life unique military "understanding" in such a way that insights is a critical deliverable of the Brand and Creative Strategy team, and an inspiring focal point for creative teams with some supervision.
- Support alignment to Branding principles via creative briefs and verbal/written guidance during development
- Identify and leverage key military and cultural/societal trends that could impact creative briefs, as well as industry trends for the broader Brand & Creative Strategy team.
- Supports Senior and Lead Brand Strategists in creative brief development, briefings, research requests/recommendations and guiding creative teams, as needed.
- Develops smaller project creative briefs, as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to harness intuition to guide development and creative work, and interpret data to develop creative insights
- Ability to build relationships and influence the creative process
- Solid presentation and communication skills
- Engaging storyteller
- Curious personality
- Proficient knowledge of the account planning and creative function/discipline and demonstrated application of knowledge, skills, and abilities towards work products required
- Knowledgeable in the creative development process and marketing principles
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree required, specifically in advertising/communications or marketing
- 4 years of developing creative briefs or creative strategies beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- 5-10 years of related account planning or brand/creative strategy experience required
- Experience working with/partnering with creative teams preferred
- Experience working in an advertising agency preferred
