ALTA IT has a Contract to Hire position open for a Sr Network Engineer for Rockville, MD. Hybrid
The Network Support Technician works with customers and engineers to perform hardware refresh and network support of the network in support of customer requirements
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Address day-to-day refresh requirements
- Performs port mapping and port configurations
- Upload IOS
- Create new VLANs
- Rack and Stack equipment
- Perform cabling of copper and fiber
- Create Change Requests
- Update tickets and perform tasks with the SLA's
- Communicate with customers and users
- Assist with requirements gathering
- Perform basic routing
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent and two years' experience
- Minimum of two years network support experience
- Able to work overnight shifts due to hardware refresh timelines.
- Familiarity with Cisco Nexus, Cisco Catalyst switches, ASR -9k
- Understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)
- Familiarity with access control models and network security
- Understanding of network operating systems (e.g. JUNOS, Cisco IOS)
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS Degree
- Professional certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCDA)
