Basic Functions (or Position Summary):


This role’s primary purpose is to provide a strong project management presence as it relates to new product development for North America’s ventilation market. The incumbent is responsible for using conceptual product ideas and performing necessary research, engineering, and project management to bring finished products to the marketplace. 

This role entails working as a member of the Systemair technical team to develop innovative products with drawings, engineering specifications, bill of materials, quality plans and assembly procedures for new products. 


This role may also be responsible for developing test plans to verify that design functions perform appropriately and meet regulatory requirements.  The incumbent must be able to plan one's own work and manage one's own timelines to complete assignments within the parameters of the project scope.  Key criteria include technical skills, sound engineering and business judgment, strong communication skills, basic knowledge of the industry, initiative and innovation, and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks. In this position, the incumbent will use established procedures and work under immediate supervision to perform assigned tasks. This position works on assignments under general supervision and direction, follows established procedures and has work reviewed by more senior level engineers.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Project to ensure project objectives are met
  • Participate in research activities, including but not limited to, market analysis, customer expectations, and internal capabilities, in order to generate a business case.
  • Analyze business case to develop project goals and product expectations.
  • Develop solutions to problems and new designs.
  • Schedule tasks, and report progress to project stakeholders.
  • Execute project-specific document control processes.
  • Perform engineering analyses and calculations.
  • Review, approve and control vendor-supplied engineering documents.
  • Write engineering specifications for ventilation products and accessories.
  • Understand fundamentals of acoustics and fan design.

You will be expected to accept direction from your supervisor, management and subordinate personnel and to work amicably and productively with co-workers.

An ideal candidate would be an individual who is outgoing, mechanically minded, inquisitive, and well organized. This individual shall gain a strong understanding of the end product application, relevant regulations, as well as knowledge on technological trends. As a Project Engineer, your knowledge and expertise play a major role in establishing the project framework.


Education and Experience:


Education: BS degree, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred


Experience:

  • 0-3 years professional experience (product development experience a plus).
  • Basic understanding of electrical power or electronics (relevant experience a plus).
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication process
  • Experience with 3D modeling (Creo, Solidworks, Catia, Inventor, etc.)
  • Knowledge of technical product drawing and tolerance requirements
