Position Overview
The Balancing Clerk is responsible for tasks involving balancing and depositing items, reconciling payment batches to the State Disbursement Unit (SDU) system and preparing for bank deposits each business day in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and contractual obligations. This position reconciles and researches any discrepancies found. In addition, the Balancing Clerk will be responsible for other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Policies and procedures involved in SDU payment processing
- Child support policies related to payment processing
- SMI systems
- Technical aspects of field of specialty
- Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
Ability to:
- Collect, research, and analyze data
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

- Meet stringent schedules and time lines

- Work flexible schedules and overtime hours, as necessary
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of prior experience in the areas of accounting, bookkeeping or other related fields OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the job. Preference will be given to those individuals who are experienced in SDU applications
- Must be proficient in data entry skills including keyboard, mouse, and 10-key pad and have experience and knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Windows products
