Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage the preventive maintenance programs for all fixed/mobile equipment on the Terminal.
- Actively managing the intervals for preventative maintenance scheduling.
- Reviews each Notification and converts it to Work orders ready for planning:
- Work scope clearly described
- Check if the priority and requested completion date are realistic and provide practical lead-time
- Charge numbers and other coding are complete and accurate
- Authorization is proper
- Discusses details with the originating department as appropriate
- Examines jobs to be done and determines best way to accomplish the work. Consults with requester and maintenance manager frequently.
- Ensures the safety needs are given a top priority in work planning.
- Estimates jobs showing sequence of steps, the number of technicians and required labor hours for each step. Lists materials and any special tools or equipment needed.
- Estimates cost of each work order in terms of direct labor, materials, rental and external service required and total cost.
- Obtains and attaches blueprints, drawings, instructional manuals and special procedures from files or other sources to work order as needed. Makes any additional sketches, diagrams, etc., necessary to clarify the intent of the work order.
- Identifies and orders all requisite material, equipment rental and contractor for work order. Verifying the critical components in stock and expediting the materials as needed.
- Prepares bidding package as procedure requires.
- Maintains backlog files of work orders waiting scheduling in accordance with their priority limits with an estimated completion date. Those unplanned, requiring engineering, waiting for materials, waiting for downtime, etc., are filed accordingly.
- Recommends equipment to be included in preventive maintenance programs.
- Plans and schedules preventive maintenance work in coordination with operations and maintenance manager.
- Reviews and records all Work Order data in Upkeep before closeout.
- Develops the standard task list (plans) for regularly recurring repair jobs, based on historical experience, to simplify the planning process.
- Reviews with the maintenance manager the actual labor expended versus estimated labor and material used for completed jobs, in order to determine corrective measures needed to improve the accuracy of estimating and improving methods of doing work.
- Assists maintenance and operations management in periodically analyzing costs and, where necessary, recommends corrective action needed to reduce maintenance costs.
- Informs the maintenance manager on all abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside of the planner's knowledge or authority.
- Consults maintenance manager and Terminal Manager to improve the maintenance program or system.
- Maintains necessary records and files and prepares and distributes meaningful and accurate control reports.
- Create and manage critical spare parts list. Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure that inventory levels are updated.
- Work closely with Operations Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, all vendors and contractors, Administration Assistants, and HSSE.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Technical School Background preferred.
- Mechanical/electrical background is required.
- Proficient administrative and mathematical skills.
- Have adequate trade knowledge to estimate labor hours and materials and to visualize the job to be performed.
- Able to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to attain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Good Oral/Written communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
- Successful completion of background check, physical and drug screen.
- Ability to maintain regular, dependable attendance.
- Valid Driver's License Required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must meet "fit for duty" requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical and drug test)
- The employee must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work at protected heights up to 130 feet.
