We are currently seeking candidates that were prior Navy Certified Steam Generating Plant Inspector (SGPI). This is a remote position and the ideal candidate must be willing to travel periodically to Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The SGPI will serve as the “Owner’s Representative” supporting NAVSEA’s role as execution agent for ship repair projects. The SGPI will act as the program office representative at various Follow-On Technical Support related activities to enhance communications and provide a degree of quality assurance for work being accomplished. They shall have a primary role in supporting the PMS 326 Country/Program Manager. This individual will have a purely advisory role under the authority and guidance of NAVSEA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a central point of contact for NAVSEA, perform Start of Availability and Completion of Availability inspections of vessels for repair and maintenance standards and procedures, and maintain accurate records of USN supported maintenance.
- Provides the cognizant NAVSEA project manager with project specific updates on case related issues and keep NAVSEA informed of any potential schedule or quality problems.
- Provide oversight and inspections of vessels for repair and maintenance standards and shipboard equipment and system problem solving.
- Determine, validate, and diagnose specific Steam Plant maintenance requirements for assigned ships.
- Provide deck plate training assists.
- Must have specific knowledge of US Navy Ship classes with steam propulsion.
Travel
- This position includes a low level of travel.
Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required
- Extensive experience (i.e., multiple tours) as an Steam Generating Plant Inspector required.
- Fifteen years of commercial, Navy, or NOAA experience.
- Engineer and ship repair experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or management-related fields.
- At least seven years FMS and/or OCONUS experience required.

Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- USCG Third Assistant Engineer license is highly desired.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the generation of engineering reports and analyses.
- Must possess proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently traverse stairs.
- Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
- Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
- Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 20 lbs.
