We are looking for an Financial Technician for our Silver Spring, MD location at NMRC.

Job Responsibilities
- Assists more experienced accountants in a variety of accounting assignments including the preparation, analysis, review, verification, and reconciliation of vouchers, journal entries, accounting classifications, and other accounting/financial statements, records, and reports;
- Establishes and maintains accurate, detailed financial records;
- Coordinates accounting matters with other departments, locations, and business units;
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant accounting.
- Research lines of accounting issues using STARS-FL and other data sources and recommend courses of action necessary to resolve them.
- Develop and maintain databases, spreadsheets, reports and forms as needed by the Comptroller.
- Assist with conducting quarterly reviews (first week of each quarter) to ensure all databases, spreadsheets, reports, and forms are up-to-date and electronically available to the Comptroller.
- Assist with outstanding reconciliation validations.
- Prepare outgoing funding documents for Financial Analyst review.
- Identify and recommend proper lines of accounting to be assigned.
- Run reports based on BUMED SOP.
Desired Skills
- A solid understanding of the Bureau of Medicine (BUMED) enterprise.
- Strong financial skills.
- Proficient using/creating Excel Spreadsheets.
- Familiarity using the Standardized Accounting & Reporting System (STARS-FL), FASTDATA, FPS, DTS, SLDCADA, Wide Area Workflow (WAWF), and all Government accounting procedures preferred.
Requirements
- Personnel must have a security clearance level of SECRET. Personnel performing work under this contract must be U.S. citizens.
- Typically requires 0-2 years of related experience in accounting;
- Associates Degree or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience;
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
