Location/Schedule:

Our spacious Lakewood, CO office offers free parking, an on-site gym, and food trucks twice a month! We currently can hire for this position out of the following locations: Lakewood, CO; and nearby areas.  The pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.   This position will be a full-time (40 hours a week) commitment for summer 2023. Position is eligible for hybrid and condensed work schedule. 

 

Accounting Internship Overview:

This internship will get a variety of exposure to Corporate Accounting. Equally important is the expectation for the selected candidate to gain exposure and experience in an opportunity rich industry.   In doing this, the selected candidate will be learning this industry from a unique position which will require contact with various parts of the company.  This internship also comes with the following advantages:

  • A possible path to an Accounting position once the selected candidate has graduated.

 

Oil Accounting & Corporate Accounting Intern Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare invoices.
  • Support internal earnings and volumetric reporting as needed.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure accuracy in regulatory reporting and third-party transactions
  • Learn how to perform transaction research and document explanations.
  • Develop an understanding of the month-end close process from multiple perspectives within the accounting department.
  • Assist with ad-hoc reporting requests for internal departments and external audit.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements:

 Education:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Actively pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance

 

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills. 
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

 

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
  • Strong math, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work with a team and follow work rules.
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.

  • Must be able to climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways
  • Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells, carry up to 50 pounds and to see, hear, walk and talk effectively.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to type, touch, handle, or feel. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Essentially indoors 
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including a credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • None.
