What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prep Cook position at Taco Naco KC?
We are looking for a prep and line cook to cook and prepare a variety of food products including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, breads, and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils according to the Daily Prep List. Responsibilities also include performing other duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items, preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu item plates, assisting kitchen team members as needed, and accomplishing all duties while adhering to all safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Assists the kitchen and service staff as needed to maintain the highest level of food quality, presentation, and timing to optimize the customer experience.
- Measuring ingredients and preparing cooking ingredients such as salsas, dips, mixes, and marinades.
- Following prep lists and preparing dishes in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensuring all food items and ingredients are safely stored and easily accessible.
- Assisting chefs in preparing food and attending to any culinary tasks that arise.
- Distributing plates, cleaning plates for dishwashing, and preparing orders for pick-up or delivery.
- Supervising food and cooling room temperatures.
- Accepting or rejecting ingredients from suppliers.
- Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen and workstations.
Qualifications / Skills
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen, and dining room personnel.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to forty pounds.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
- Must be able to follow printed recipes and plate specifications.
