We have an outstanding Contract to Hire position for a Plant Operator to join a leading Company located in the Scottsdale, AZ surrounding area.
In a safe, efficient, and professional manner, the Operator will support the Plant Manager in the preventative, corrective, and general maintenance of HVAC systems for the account. Other duties include, but are not limited to: daily assessments of systems, maintaining a clean working environment, and other various duties as assigned by the Plant Manager while adhering to all safety and health standards.
Responsibilities:
Maintain, service, repair, and install split system, package, and heat pump AC units
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs as needed to rooftop air handler units and store fan coil units, exhaust fans, and other equipment on the property
Maintain cleanliness and keep biological activity under control in cooling towers, sometimes working at heights at or around 40'
Repair, maintain, and/or replace electric motors, fans, bearings, etc
Always keep central plant and HVAC department areas clean and in safe condition
Perform other various duties as assigned by the supervisor
Basic Hiring Criteria:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years in commercial air conditioning, including: chillers, water pumps, cooling towers, air handlers, package units, split systems, exhaust fans, and heat pumps
Valid Arizona Driver's License including a clean MVD record
Original Social Security Card
INS form I-9 Certification
Drug Screen/Background check
Universal Level CFC Handling Certificate
Desired Qualifications:
Present self in a professional manner: neat appearance and grooming; no jewelry
Good communication with and respect for co-workers and their property, vendors, and tenants
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to speak, read, and write routine reports and correspondence
Safely use hand tools, power tools, and test instruments to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various types of equipment
Follow safety practices, and utilize protective clothing and equipment as required by OSHA
Know the whereabouts of all emergency equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers, eyewash and shower stations, first aid supplies, breathing apparatus, etc
Must understand the basics of central plant operation, including the fundamentals of chillers, water pumps, piping and valve operation, cooling towers, air handlers, exhaust equipment, and the smoke evacuation system
Able to lift and carry 40lb ladders occasionally throughout the day
Must have mechanical/HVAC experience,
Ability to calculate figures and amounts
Familiar with energy management systems
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule: days, evenings, weekends, and emergencies
Able to produce a quality work product in a prompt, safe, and efficient manner
Observe and adhere to safety and health rules
Good communication with and respect for co-workers and their property, vendors, and tenants
Maintain a good attendance record, including notification in the event of tardiness and absence
