Summary
The Grant Specialist will be the single point of contact for all grants management within Tahoe Forest Health System (TFHS). They will identify and apply for grants to federal, state, and private funding agencies to support the existing mission statement of TFHS. Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to public and private grant opportunities in areas
that support TFHS programs. The position is also responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on the performance of program activities that are funded by federal, state, and private funding agencies. Ultimately responsible for the overall quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all grant proposal responses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Researches and identifies new government, corporate, foundation and private funding prospects to match TFHS' strategic plan
- Generates high-quality proposals, narratives, applications and supporting documents in response to solicitations consistent with all policies and procedures of TFHS, and the requirements and guidelines of the funding agencies
- Generates revenues for TFHS programs through timely submission of well-researched, well written and well-documented grant proposals
- Maintains primary responsibility for grant schedules, tracking grants, and all reporting requirements, and financial disbursement requests
- Responsible to understand the needs TFHS and presenting the mission and capabilities of the organization accordingly
- Serves as a liaison to all funding agencies and organizations
- Works with department leadership to research, develop, write and submit letters of inquiry, concept papers and grant proposals throughout the organization
- Maintain up to date understanding of legal regulations & other matters of compliance with all state and federal grants including HRSA.
- Coordinates and follows-up on the progress of submitted proposals
- Coordinates with the Accounts Payable and Finance Team to oversee grant expenditures and income
- Monitors program budgets and maintains documentation supporting allowable expenses
- Prepares and distributes reports detailing program progress and performance in compliance with grantor reporting requirements
- Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
- Complies with System policies and procedures.

Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree Public Health, Public Administration, Journalism, Public Relations or related field and 5 or more years relevant experience
Required Licenses/Certifications
Valid Driver's License in good standing - Upon hire
Other Experience/Qualifications
- Grant writing experience, preferably with a healthcare focus;
- Experience which should demonstrate a proven track record of securing new funding opportunities; comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and
- Ability to work effectively under pressure;
- Excellent writing and verbal skills;
- Be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes;
- Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data;
- Excellent Computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel), and database management skills;
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

- A proven record of securing major grants with certifiable references;
- Previous federal grant application, submission, approval and management of funds
