Located in Elmhurst, Tail Gate for Dogs is the area’s premier daycare, boarding, grooming and training facility. As a Canine Daycare/Kennel Attendant you will be responsible for the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Accompany dogs throughout different areas of the facility.
- Ease dogs into the group and assess initial attitude.
- Monitor play area use, directing dogs based on size and energy level of the daycare areas.
- Engage with the dogs by encouraging appropriate activities and correcting behavior as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of the daycare areas and canines to ensure a safe, clean and sanitary environment.
- Handle general tasks and record keeping associated with the care of the dogs such as administering medicine, feedings, fresh water, etc.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the managers.
- Communicate in a professional and respectful manner with clients and staff.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Must love all dogs!
- Previous experience handling dogs required.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respond professionally in high stress and/or emergency situations.
- Comfortable maintaining control with a group of dogs in various sizes.
- Flexible schedule to work shifts ranging from open to close, weekends and some holidays.

- Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in English.
- Ability to stand and move about the facility for up to 100% of work time, about 6-8 hours.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds unassisted and bend, stoop and lift frequently.
- Maintain close proximity with all breeds of canines for extended periods of time while tolerating loud noises.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather.
