Job Description

About the role:

We are looking for an accomplished computational biologist to join our team and provide expert guidance to integrate, analyze and interpret multi-modal data for development of cancer therapeutics. You will contribute to our mission to provide innovative cancer therapies to patients across our pipeline of novel immuno-oncology therapeutics. You should have a background and understanding of cancer biology and the ability to apply modern computational biology approaches to provide scientific insights. You will be influential across the entire drug discovery spectrum, contributing to projects moving from target identification and validation through product launch.

How you will contribute:

  • Work with functional and program leadership to develop and implement a computational biology strategy.
  • Visualize and interpret data types including genomics, transcriptomics, single cell sequencing, proteomics, and other high-dimensional datasets.
  • Perform integrative analyses to deduce, summarize and communicate results contributing to the understanding of drug indication, mechanism of action, identification of response predictors and translational biomarkers.
  • Establish a collaborative and influential role within biology-oriented project teams by working through the spectrum of experimental study design, assay selection, analysis, data integration and data interpretation.
  • Work with data scientists and data engineering groups to enhance our computational infrastructure, user interface, data storage, query and visualization capabilities.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive technical or project reports to a full range of internal and external audiences.
  • Conduct scientific presentations to internal audiences and to external partnerships as indicated by projects and working with program leadership.
  • Establish project direction integrating science, important technical knowledge, and program goals
  • Collaborate with other departments, being a scientific authority within discipline
  • Keep current with latest trends in bioinformatics and computational biology

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, or similar discipline with relevant experience in oncology research.
  • Solid understanding of cancer biology and cancer driver mutations.
  • Experience performing large-scale data analyses from high-throughput assays such as transcript quantification and differential expression from transcriptomics assays, or mutation identification from whole exome sequencing or whole genome sequencing data.
  • Experience implementing somatic mutation calling pipelines.
  • Experience using popular public domain data sources and programmatic interfaces.
  • Experience with systems biology approaches.
  • Experience developing data visualization solutions that may not already exist.
  • Experience developing machine learning algorithms a plus.
  • Excellent programming skills including cloud computing and command line expertise; R, SQL, Perl, Python. Proficiency in Linux environment and demonstrated expertise in several programing languages.
  • Familiar with parallel computing, relational databases (e.g., SQL) and cloud computing or distributed computing (i.e. AWS).
  • Scientific understanding of biological systems, common experimental approaches, and latest genomics technologies.
  • Ability to statistically model experimental and biological covariates.
  • Understanding of current best-practices for high-throughput molecular data analysis.
