Job Description
About the role:
As the Operational Excellence Champion, you will lead and champion Operational Excellence deployment for a key area such as Fractionation, Purification or Engineering Maintenance. This involves collaboratively planning, building skills and capabilities, and driving deployment of elements of the Operating System (AOS) that help the area achieve its goals. This role provides high visibility to senior leaders across the site. As the Champion, you will go through a robust certification process which will build key capabilities in operational excellence, digital technologies, and cultural change.
How you will contribute:
Represent operational excellence in manufacturing as the point of contact for driving continuous improvement in operations and mindset.
Use operational excellence methods and tools to drive the site strategy to achieve its transformational (breakthrough) objectives faster.
Ensure excellence in operations and supply reliability for our patients
Implement innovation and digital technologies to fuel an industry-leading position
Unlock full potential of our people and advance our capabilities
Evolve culture to be more patient-centric with a continuous learning mindset
Interact with stakeholders’ site wide and globally to drive initiatives
Connect and collaborate with global, regional and OpU groups to bring Good Practices to the site and to share our Good Practices with others.
Develop from learning operational excellence methods and tools, through leading implementations (deliver results) to become a coach (build capabilities in others) in one or more elements of Operational Excellence.
Become 'approved' by Global Operational Excellence to deliver workshops and lead implementations
Become a role model in operational excellence mindset, champion change and demonstrate key skills, particularly in root-cause problem solving, 5S, Standard Work, Visual systems (including Tier mechanisms) and Leader GEMBA
At times may be assigned work in other operational excellence streams such as Digital, or People, Culture & Change
Must interact with stakeholders site wide and globally to drive initiatives
Upon two to three years of successful term in this role, Operation Excellence Champions will be recognized as candidates for future opportunities to further progress their careers in the organization.
What you bring to Takeda:
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline strongly preferred
3 years of related experience preferred.
Background in Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement, Lean would be advantage but not necessary; Six Sigma green belt or black training / certification a plus.
If not previously six sigma green belt certified, must attend training within the first year
Must have knowledge and possess the ability to utilize six sigma methodologies to solve complex problems
2 years of experience desirable in the biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
Demonstrated passion for challenging the status quo and relentlessly trying to improve the operation.
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills. Ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve business goals.
Advanced PC skills such as MS Office, process mapping software, Minitab
Experience in FDA regulated environment, Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO 9001 is a plus
Must have strong organizational and project management abilities along with knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement approaches
Must be able to train others and work with employees on all levels
Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 10 lbs

Important Considerations
At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:
Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment
Work in a cold, wet environment.
Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
