Job Description

As a Data Engineer you will:

⦁ Build, test and deploy consumable data pipelines as per specification and in line with defined guardrails of the the platform as specified by delivery, risk and security standards.
⦁ Collaborate with counterparts elsewhere within TAL to improve data consistency.
⦁ Work with the Lead Data Engineer towards increasing the reliability and availability of data across TAL.
• Assist the Pod in improving their delivery velocity.  Help new Pod members learn the Pod practices (including TAL Continuous Delivery (CD) agile practices), standards and technology being built and help existing Pod members to upskill as required.
• Perform design-, code- and test-reviews and embed built-in quality practices to ensure products delivered by the Pod meet appropriate quality standards throughout development.  
• Ensure that delivered products are secure, reliable, usable, efficient, effective and, where required, highly available and scalable.
• Assist the Pod in troubleshooting and supporting what they build, including providing L3 support for production incident resolution and root cause fixes.
•  Participate in Scrum ceremonies reporting on dependencies, progress, impediments and next steps.

Qualifications

• High degree of curiosity and desire to learn, self develop and challenge the norm.

Experience Essential
• Experience in developing data pipelines in both traditional and cloud base environments using ETL methodologies.
• Strong technical background, ideally having worked as a developer for 3 - 5 years, including experience with the Microsoft stack SSIS, SSRS, SQL and Stored Procedures as well as MS Azure technology stack in particular ADF, Azure SQL and a working understanding of Azure Develops
• Any other Azure related knowledge or experience in the following areas would be a bonus: Azure Databricks, Azure Event Hub and Cosmos DB. 
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptive and resilient in a fast-changing environment.
• Excellent knowledge of and experience in the application of agile and lean practices.

Desirable Qualification and Experience: Tertiary qualifications; Financial Services/Insurance/Life Insurance industry background;  CI/CD & DevOps experience; Azure DevOps experience; Jira & Confluence experience
