Day in the Life of a Staff Attorney at The Julian Center:
As a Staff Attorney, you'll work directly alongside survivors of domestic and sexual violence, offering legal guidance and representation in civil proceedings and other legal matters. Your days will be filled with meaningful interactions, from advising clients on protective orders, divorce, custody, and child support to preparing them for court appearances. You'll communicate regularly with clients, ensuring they're informed and supported every step of the way. Additionally, you'll collaborate with colleagues, judges, and community partners, building strong relationships within the legal community.
You Would Thrive in This Position If:
- You hold a Juris Doctor degree and are admitted to the bar in Indiana.
- You have 1 to 3 years of experience in legal practice.
- Your communication skills are top-notch, allowing you to effectively engage with both legal professionals and clients.
- You're adept at multitasking and can handle multiple responsibilities with attention to detail.
- You're committed to maintaining confidentiality and boundaries while providing equitable services to all clients.
- You have a desire to work with clients using a strengths-based, empowerment approach.
- You demonstrate sensitivity and understanding in working with individuals who have experienced trauma and related psychosocial issues.
- You possess a valid driver's license and can pass a criminal background check.
