Maintenance Apprentice
Shift: 1st shift
Location: Holland, MI
Pay: $18-$24/hour
Job Purpose:
The Maintenance Technician Apprentice maintains company physical assets according to established procedures. This person will be expected to complete the Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship program while training and working with the senior Maintenance Technician(s) on the team.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Performs maintenance tasks on machinery, equipment, buildings, grounds and owned utilities.
• Performs routine facility maintenance which may include; relocating of basic electrical fixtures, HVAC preventative maintenance, and the installation of basic conduit, air and water lines.
• Performs general maintenance of outdoor lighting, signs and grounds.
• Performs basic housekeeping responsibilities.
• Performs basic quality assurance tasks.
• Performs preventative maintenance tasks.
• Performs tasks listed on the training checklist.
Other Responsibilities:
• Attends work cell and company meetings.
• Assists Maintenance Repairman Level 2 and 3 as needed.
• Provides input for improving work processes.
• Occasional training of less experienced peers.
• May require occasional extended hours or weekend work.
Required Skill and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
• Able to obtain a forklift and crane operator license
Preferred Skill and Experience:
• 2 years’ experience in mechanical work or other equivalent training
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Physical Demands:
• Stands and walks for extended periods of time.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, crouch, and move about the facility.
• Required to climb ladders and work at heights occasionally, as needed.
• Moves around the manufacturing / shipping and receiving area throughout the day.
• Uses one or both feet and hands to move controls on machinery or equipment.
• Reaches overhead by extending hands or arms.
• Applies manual dexterity and visual acuity for mechanical and electrical tools and equipment.
• May lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. and/or use minimal amount of force to carry, push, pull or otherswise move objects.
Working Environment:
• Works in a manufacturing environment.
• The individual may encounter some adverse conditions that may include loud noise, dust, small or tight workspaces and extreme weather conditions.
