Summary: Planning Manager
The Planning
Manager is responsible for driving results by leading the planning
team. This includes material and labor capacity requirement determinations,
demand patterns and forecasts, and ensuring cost-effective and on-time delivery.
This
company manufactures and sells high-tech electronics/control devices/power
systems for the defense and aerospace industry.
Their
key responsibilities include:
1. Coordinating Production Workflow:
- Responsible for managing
production planners to ensure smooth execution of manufacturing
production plans in Tijuana, Mexico, and Buena Park, California.
- Holds planners accountable for
creating production plans aligned with customer delivery dates, ensuring
timely product delivery.
2. Resource Planning:
- Determines necessary capacity,
equipment, and materials required to meet production demands effectively.
3. Collaboration and
Forecasting:
- Collaborates closely with Sales
and Operations teams to develop monthly and yearly revenue forecasts and
shipment projections.
- Ensures alignment with production
planning to meet customer demands cohesively.
4. Metrics and Accountability:
- Establishes and monitors
Manufacturing Production Schedule metrics across business units, ensuring
accountability in manufacturing processes.
5. Sales and Operations
Planning (S&OP):
- Coordinates all aspects of the
S&OP process to optimize customer service levels and working capital
performance.
6. Forecast Management:
- Manages forecasts within the ERP
system (Infor - SyteLine) using data from various sources (sales,
marketing, finance).
7. Process Optimization and
Innovation:
- Develops and implements innovative
strategies to support supply chain objectives.
- Collaborates with cross-functional
teams to align planning processes with broader supply chain goals.
8. Inventory and Contingency
Planning:
- Supports optimization of inventory
turnover rates and carrying costs.
- Implements contingency plans to
address potential material and labor disruptions.
9. Operational Excellence:
- Actively supports initiatives to
enhance safety, accuracy, quality, on-time delivery, financial
performance, and operational excellence.
10. Reporting and
Documentation:
- Updates daily, weekly, and monthly
metrics and reports.
- Manages
documents and projects as assigned
11. Travel Requirements
- This role
requires occasional travel to our Tijuana, Mexico location, customers,
suppliers, and partner facilities. Travel expectations include attending
customer or supplier meetings, and internal strategy sessions. Travel
schedules will be communicated in advance, allowing for proper planning
and preparation.
