Job Description
The Bookkeeper supports the mission of the school by assisting the
Principal and Business Manager by performing administrative work in the operational area of
the organization. Duties concern the daily support of the Principal of the school and assists the
Business Manager in financial and record management.
Qualifications
At least three (3) years of related professional experience is required. High School diploma
required, but Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in business management or an equivalent field)
preferred. Experience with Quickbooks is preferred.
● Excellent interpersonal skills and familiarity with the school as an organization. Must
work effectively with and collaborate with the Principal, Business Manager,
administration, faculty and staff
● Self-motivated, take initiatives, and willing to serve
● Strong organizational skills
● Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
● Effective corporate communications skills
● Excellent time management skills with the ability to complete tasks promptly and
accurately
● Possess positive leadership qualities, such as integrity, level headedness, and charisma
● Possess a fundamental understanding of Tallahassee Classical School’s values and
mission.
● 2 years experience in accounts payable
● Ability to use Microsoft productivity software such as Excel and Word
● Preferable experience in Quickbooks
Terms
Reports to the Business Manager; 12-month position.
Duties and Responsibilities
General Duties
● Maintain confidentiality of records and information
● Demonstrate proficiency of spreadsheet and word processing softwares, emails and
calendars
● Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
● Effective communication skills, both verbal and written and correct English usage,
grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary
● Telephone techniques and etiquette
● Ability to execute projects systematically
● Assist the administration team by keeping up with office supply inventory
● Backup to front receptionist
● Other duties as required
Executive Assistant
● Support the Principal with oversight of the calendar, including travel arrangements and
accommodations and all scheduled and requested meetings
● Assists in organizing and preparing necessary information for Board of Directors’
meetings, including appropriate public notice, agenda, read-aheads, and meeting notes
● Creation and organization of regular team meeting agendas (Student Support Services
Team, Operational Team, Faculty Team)
● Keep Principal’s filing (and front office filing, when appropriate) organized and up to date
● Assist Principal with tracking expense documentation with accounting functions
● Assist Principal in other duties as required
Bookkeeper
● Place orders with vendors for Administrative team
● Assist with organization of business record management, including but not limited to
payables, receivables, contractual obligations, and occasional human resource records
● Respond to vendor and customer correspondence
● Perform activities related to the accounts payables including reviewing invoices,
ensuring appropriate backup documentation, code expenses, and timely processing of
invoices for payments
● Perform account receivable functions including deposits, and tracking payments by
customers for products
● Maintain accounting files and provide records to auditors as requested
● Perform account reconciliations as needed
● Assist Free and Reduced Lunch tracking, verifications and reporting
● Assist Business Manager in other duties as required
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
● Work is generally performed in a office setting
● Work normal school hours and other times as needed
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position. They

● Stoops, kneels, crouches, bends, reaches, and balances while working
● Spends most of the time sitting with some time standing and walking while performing
job duties
● Oral, visual, and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
