LOCATION/SCHEDULE: 

Tallgrass has a flexible working environment that offers employees the option to choose from compressed weeks with half-day Fridays or every other Friday off and Hybrid options for specific roles. Our spacious Lakewood, CO office offers free parking, an on-site gym, and food trucks twice a month! We currently can hire for this position from the following locations: Lakewood, CO and nearby locations. Alternate work locations may be approved at management’s discretion. The pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.  


MEASUREMENT ANALYST PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Responsible for evaluating and ensuring the accuracy of natural gas, NGL, and crude oil volumes for Tallgrass assets.  Identify, investigate, and correct the core issues causing inaccurate volumetric measurement by utilizing knowledge of the fundamentals of measurement.  Determine reasons for measurement imbalance based on the analysis and interpretation of current and historical data trends.   Provide accurate and timely pipeline balance and measurement information for company.  


MEASUREMENT ANALYST ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that balance reports and information accurately reflect the physical gas and oil going into and out of company assets.
  • Work closely with upstream and downstream business groups in resolving balancing and measurement data issues.
  • Perform the daily maintenance and analysis of physical measurement balances associated with company pipeline assets.
  • Provide the Measurement Department, Field Operations and designated business groups with physical pipeline L&U reporting and information.
  • Review Meter and Gas Chromatograph Test reports and make historical volumetric edits when it is deemed necessary. 
  • Track and analyze line inventory changes on company pipelines.
  • Develop data mining tools as necessary to refine analysis.
  • Establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with customers.
  • Provide timely response to volume inquiries from internal and external customers.
  • Routinely work with team members to develop written documentation for new and/or revised department procedures and processes.
  • Share technical and procedural knowledge with team members as required.
  • Communicate effectively (written and verbally) with team members and internal/external customers.
  • Continually strive to improve current processes and procedures.
  • Support team decisions, departmental policies and procedures, and all mandated industry standards.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.

MEASUREMENT ANALYST JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum requirements:


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in math, engineering or related physical science. Direct experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.


Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • Experience troubleshooting problems that include and are not limited to data Imbalances and other inconsistencies in data.
  • Must have strong math and analytical background/skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • This role can be hired as an Associate up to a Sr depending on skills, qualification, experience, and knowledge.


Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

  • Sound problem solving and analytical skills, including ability for data analysis and data auditing.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work including the ability to quickly change priorities with little advance notice.
  • Must consistently display and utilize well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to successfully perform multiples tasks, often with strict or changing deadlines.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional but infrequent travel may be required, including overnight and/or weekend travel.
  • May be required to carry a cell phone, and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:

  • Knowledge of gas, NGL, and crude oil measurement industry standards, policies and procedures including measurement calculations.
  • Understanding of physical pipeline gas balancing.
  • Experience with gas measurement transactional systems including Flow-Cal and Flow-Cal Liquids.
  • Experience in business negotiations with other companies – preferably in measurement volume recovery.
  • Experience using SQL for data mining and a solid understanding of relational databases.
