What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Geoscientist position at Talos Energy?
The Sr. Geoscientist must be able to combine seismic interpretation and geologic skills with geophysical skills. The position requires integration of seismic and well data with engineering data to fully evaluate operated assets which may include static model construction. The Sr. Geoscientist will also be responsible for near field exploration prospect generation. Proficiency in AVO, rock physics and QI techniques is desired.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary asset team to integrate geophysical, geologic and engineering data to generate prospects and evaluate well results
- Evaluate and recommend drilling of new and infill wells
- Contribute to the evaluation and management of multiple Deepwater GOM producing fields
- Identify and generate near-field exploration and exploitation opportunities
- Utilize extensive experience with outboard amplitude plays
- Assist in construction of static reservoir models along with reservoir engineering in support of reservoir simulation efforts
- Application of quantitative interpretation methods to generate advanced probabilistic risk and resource estimation
- Solicit input from peers and SMEs and collaborate to promote consistent, technically rigorous work products
- Provide geologic operations support from well planning through drilling operations
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 7 years experience at an Upstream E&P company
- Deepwater GOM experience is required
- Master’s Degree in Geology/Geophysics
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Deepwater GOM field development experience is required
- Must have firm understanding of geophysical concepts
- Strong understanding of deepwater GOM depositional systems
- Geological operations experience desired
- Experience building static reservoir models desired
- Able to organize and prioritize a diverse and heavy workload for a team
- Creates strong work relationships with vendors, contractors, and internal staff
- Communicates effectively, both written and orally in a collaborative environment
- Recognizes personal strengths and weaknesses and is proactive in self-development
- Willing to work a demanding and flexible schedule
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and IHS Kingdom

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
