Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Tech will assists in the performance of duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of hospital and nursing home in good repair. Minor electrical work, mechanical repairs and other duties relating to maintenance are the primary duties. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.

  • Water / Pump House – Has knowledge of shutoff valving (inside facility and outside on grounds), pump controls, power, chlorination, hydrants, tower draining and safety.
  • Sewer / Lift Station – Has knowledge of pumps, controls, manholes, facility cleanouts, shutoffs and safety.
  • Boilers – Can operate/repair water feed pumps, safety valves, shutoffs, natural gas system, LP gas system, controls and chemicals.
  • HVAC – Has knowledge of air handlers, zones covered, changing of filters, controls, safety systems, shutoffs, roof top units, coil cleaning, smaller AC units (split systems), power and controls, belt changes and bearing lubrication procedures. Boiler blow down, cleaning and water treatments.
  • Hot Water Heating Systems and Domestic Hot Water – Has knowledge of zones, operations, controls, safety valves and shutoff valves.
  • Medical Air Systems (Oxygen, Nitrous, Medical Air, Vacuum) – Has knowledge of zone location, operation, monitoring panels, shutoffs, alarms and safety.
  • Fire Alarm System – Has knowledge of panel locations, zones, smoke and heat detectors, operation, testing, safety and shutoffs.
  • Electrical Panels – Has knowledge of location, main shutoffs, power company feeds, volts, phases and safety switches.
  • Generators – Has knowledge of location, panel location, switch gear, volts, phases, area covered (zones), fuel type, safety and shutoffs.
  • Elevators – Has knowledge of operation, equipment standards, safety inspections, shutoffs, and phone number to call for service.
  • Sprinkler Systems – Has knowledge of zone coverage, shutoffs, draining valves, testing, safety and inspections.
  • Nurses Call System/Communication Systems – Has knowledge of power resetting, replacement parts, handsets, controls, control rooms, safety, phone numbers to call for repair (both outside and Information Systems Department.)
  • Security System – Has knowledge of power to system, troubleshooting, bypassing locks, control cabinet locations, and phone number to call for service.
  • Major Laundry Equipment – Can operate / repair washers, dryers and mangle, which includes knowledge of the controls, operations, power, safety and shutoffs.)
  • Major Dietary Equipment – Can operate / repair dishwasher, walk-in freezer, walk-in cooler, ovens, stoves and other units, which includes knowledge of controls, operation, power, safety and shutoffs.
  • General Maintenance including: Wall and ceiling repairs, patching and painting. Repairs and maintenance to wheel chairs, walkers, hospital beds as required.
  • Knowledge of plumbing and installations and repairs

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous maintenance experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
