What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Services Representative position at Tandym Group?

A New York City-based healthcare organization is looking to add a new Patient Services Representative to their Internal Medicine team at one of their practices in Queens.

Responsibilities:

The Patient Services Representative will:
  • Warmly greet and engage in friendly conversation with patients and guests; answering phones, direct calls, and take messages
  • Monitor patient flow in waiting room and assesses patients' and guests' needs as they wait
  • Check-in patients and prepare and process appropriate forms; check-out patients at the end of the visit, verifying that patients have all required documentation prior to leaving the medical facility
  • Review the referral WQ daily to address any referrals which may have been ordered in a non-face to face encounter, such as an in-basket message and proceeds to arrange these referrals
  • Collect cash from patients for charges and co-payments and provides patient receipts
  • Assist the Care teams with campaigns/initiatives, such as the Influenza program and the Health outcome survey and closing gaps in care
  • Complete all necessary forms in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform other job-related duties, as required
Qualifications:
  • 3 year of Customer Care and/or Customer Services experience in a Healthcare setting
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs)
  • Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
  • Patient oriented
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
Desired Skills:
  • 1 year of experience as a Patient Services Representative and/or Medical Secretary
  • Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree
  • Working knowledge of Epic EMRs
