An orthopedic outpatient clinic on Long Island is actively seeking a patient-oriented and dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join their staff. In this role, the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) will work closely with team members and patients to treat and manage a wide variety conditions including but not limited to: sports injuries, joint replacements, fracture care, and spine disorders.

- Administration of direct patient care under the supervision of a physical therapist
- Observing patients before, during, and after therapy, noting the patient’s status and reporting it to a physical therapist
- Using devices and equipment, such as walkers, to help patients
- Educating patients and family members about what to do after treatment
- Submitting required documentation in accordance with the policies and procedures of the department
- Participating in quality improvement chart reviews and activities
- Performing related duties, as required
- Associate’s Degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited college
- Currently certified and registered as Physical Therapy Assistant in New York State
- Knowledge of various manual therapy techniques and exercise prescription
- Experience and proficiency in using an electronic medical record (EMR)
- Team-oriented
- Excellent communication and follow up skills
- Strong time management skills
- 1 year of experience in an outpatient orthopedic setting
- CPR
