A Day in the Life of a DSP:
- Encourage and assist the clients to maintain communication with their family and friends
- Be a part of Person Centered Planning Process – be on a client’s team to help them advocate for their life decisions
- Have a positive role in the life of someone with a disability
- Support people with self-advocacy and relationship building skills
- Support people in working toward their goals and dreams
- Provide assistance with household chores and cooking
- Help with meal planning and grocery shopping
- Support people with household budgets and bill payment
- Transportation to medical appointments – may include support with seeing the clinician
- Encourage and support having fun in the community
- Learn and implement each individual’s Person Centered Individual Support Plan (PCISP)

Tangram is a non-profit that was established in 1985 in Hancock County, Indiana by families of individuals with disabilities who wanted better options for independent living for their loved ones. Since that time, Tangram has grown to serve individuals with disabilities and their families throughout Central Indiana, and offers a wide range of individualized services to meet the unique needs of the people we serve.

How You Can Be Successful:
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Prefer experience in a human services field – or experience with individuals with disabilities
- Be 18 years or older
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Must have acceptable driving record
- If client’s site has an agency vehicle, must be 21 years of age to drive
- Have basic computer skills
- Must pass criminal background and drug screen
