What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Programs Specialist position at Tanium?
The Basics:
Tanium is looking for a Legal Programs Specialist who will be responsible for developing and implementing efficient and effective legal programs for a growing Legal Department. This includes all Legal Information Technology Systems, including helping to develop and implement the Department's technology strategy, intake process, matter management and file management systems, oversight over billing and invoicing systems and vendor relations, including legal spend reporting, developing and tracking metrics, and other general program responsibilities, as assigned. The ideal candidate will be someone with significant project management experience, who is customer service-focused and detail-oriented, comfortable with both technical and legal vernacular, and has exceptional judgment. This role requires someone who is able to work cross-functionally with members at all levels throughout the Department as well as members of other departments.
What you'll do:
- Manage all Legal Department IT systems including tracking and implementing updates/renewals; design and roll out of new initiatives; suggesting and implementing improvements to current systems; working with or serving as network administrator for IT systems; and identifying opportunities to leverage technology solutions to resolve business issues
- Identify solutions to increase overall efficiency by consistently looking for ways to improve/enhance processes, find efficiencies, and think outside the box
- Define and deliver on the IT architecture and strategy for the department; work with IT to choose and implement applications; ensures systems are optimized worldwide
- Implement the intranet strategy and Knowledge Management program, including the reuse of data, proper document management and creation of self-help tools for the Legal Department
- Ensure effective change management for all program and system implementations
- Drive the department's communications strategy
- Help to identify, drive and track department metrics, including spend analysis
- Work closely with legal department outside vendors, including RFPs and procurement process
- Manage Legal Department business relationships with law firms, including invoicing and payment processes, standardizing processes and procedures, overseeing billing guidelines, and analysis, reporting, and recommendations for cost-saving measures
- Liaise with Finance and Accounting functions to establish budgets and create meaningful reports and a streamlined budgeting process
- Manage office administration and the support infrastructure for Legal Department
- Manage department intranet, keeping information up to date, including department policies
- Perform special projects and responsibilities assigned by the General Counsel
We're looking for someone with:
- Education:
- Paralegal certificate or undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
- Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in an operations or adjacent role (preferably in a legal department or law firm) with progressively increasing responsibilities and accomplishments
- Strong technical skills including strong proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications, especially SharePoint and Teams
- Other:
- Capacity to think strategically and proactively to identify issues and develop long-term solutions
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative to be a self-starter
- Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and a strong customer-focus orientation
- Demonstrated project management skills including implementing major projects to successful completion
- Strong work ethic and a high degree of accountability
- Team player with an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and flexibly in a collegial, fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
