Position Title: Accountant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable Management:

Process and verify invoices for accuracy and appropriate approvals
Schedule and prepare payments, ensuring timely and accurate disbursements
Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies
Update and provide credit details to new vendors
Management of AP approval software. Adding new users and document processing

Sales Tax Filing:

Calculate and file sales taxes in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Work with IT to update jurisdiction rate changes

Journal Entries:

Prepare and enter monthly journal entries
Maintain accurate and complete financial records

Bank Reconciliation:

Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies

Internal Purchases Oversight:

Manage the procurement process for internal purchases
Ensure compliance with company policies and budget constraints

Employee Management:

Supervise and mentor accounts payable staff
Provide guidance and training as needed

Cross-Departmental Communication:

Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting
Address and resolve any financial-related inquiries or issues

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience in accounting role

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or a similar role
Experience managing accounts payable and filing sales taxes
Proven ability to make journal entries and perform bank reconciliations

Skills:

Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with AS400 accounting software and/or SMRTR Solutions AP Essentials
Familiarity with internal purchase processes and procurement policies
