Parts and Returns Department Assistant

Position Overview:

The Assistant in the Parts and Returns Department will play a crucial role in managing the inventory of parts and processing returns for a dynamic retail/wholesale e-commerce company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting in the department's daily operations, ensuring efficient handling of parts and returns, maintaining accurate records, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in receiving, inspecting, and sorting returned merchandise, identifying defects or discrepancies, and processing items according to company policies.
• Maintain and organize the parts inventory, ensuring items are correctly stored, cataloged, and readily available for shipping or restocking.
• Coordinate with the warehouse team to manage inventory levels and restock returned items as needed.
• Process return authorizations, refunds, exchanges, and customer credits promptly and accurately.
• Communicate with customers via phone, email, or chat to resolve return issues, provide updates, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with the shipping department to schedule pick-ups and deliveries of parts and returned goods.
• Assist in conducting periodic inventory audits and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of the parts inventory.
• Maintain detailed returns records, including reasons for return, item condition, and actions taken.
• Support the Parts and Returns Supervisor in implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
• Perform additional duties and assist with projects as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in a returns or inventory management role, preferably in a retail or e-commerce environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a patient and empathetic approach to problem-solving.
• Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Team player with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

• This position operates in a warehouse and office environment and may require extended periods standing or moving around the warehouse.
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet business demands.
