Accounting Manager

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Direct and oversee the accounting operations teams, including Procure-to-Pay function (AP), Order to Cash function (AR) and Fixed Assets with a focus on internal controls, standardizing processes, close optimization and accuracy
• Liaise and participate in workflow design with other system administrators on processes, policies, systems and compliance, as well as drive and support the implementation of accounting systems where necessary
• Own certain aspects of the month-end close process, including ensuring key account balances are fully reconciled, and reviewing supporting schedules
• Evaluate processes/controls to improve efficiency (through various techniques such as process streamlining and/or automation) and effectiveness on a continuous basis
• Work with external auditors and manage audit requests to drive timely completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits
• Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
• Ensure an accurate and timely month end close by providing support to the accounting close process
• Enforce proper accounting policies and processes
• Assist in development and implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the department
• Assist in preparing for and managing annual external audits

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• BA/BS in Accounting or Finance. Public Accounting experience is a plus, CPA a nice to have
• minimum of 8 years accounting and finance experience
• Recent experience as an Accounting Manager or Corporate Accounting Manager of a rapidly growing startup is a plus
• Financial systems knowledge and expertise and familiarity with financial business applications (NetSuite preferred)
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills, high energy, initiative and creativity - with a proven ability to manage significant initiatives across the organization, as well as develop and motivate staff
• An orientation toward process and detail mindedness
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills and superior accounting skills
• Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbally
• The desire to improve broken processes and make your own job easier over time
• Proficient knowledge of MS Excel, Word and GSuite
