What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Administrator position at Tarc?
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, installs, configures, and maintains organization’s operating systems. Support all Cloud and On-site IT infrastructure. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware, operating systems, and applications software. Detects, diagnoses, and repairs/reports problems on both the application servers and desktop systems. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure Operating Systems Function Effectively
- Design, specify, configure, install, and maintain TARC’s operating systems
- Prepare computers and Virtual Machines for use
- Identify, diagnose, and implement solutions associated with computer applications
- Train users on software and equipment usage
- Communicate with other departments to report and resolve issues associated with computer applications
- Recommend and implements Group Policies and other automation
- Design and implements Backup & Recovery procedures
- Maintain VMware
- Ensure TARC’s Technology Remains Current
- Stay abreast of technological advances
- Analyze technological advances for suitability at TARC
- Recommend new technologies for purchase
- Implement newly purchased technologies
- Maintain and Support Voice and Data System
- Analyze business needs
- Diagnose and recommend course of action to resolve problems
- Consult with vendors about hardware and software to meet TARC’s business requirements
- Modify hardware and software configuration
- Perform Administrative Functions
- Coordinate IT Procurements
- Develop IT capital purchase order packets
- After hours “on call” support rotation with IT staff
- Perform Other Duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree, plus three (3) years of applicable experience in related field
- Hands on knowledge of voice and data communications equipment and systems
- Ability to maintain software and hardware and to provide operational support for various server and desktop operating systems.
- Ability to wire networks and solve problems with limited data.
- Experience with virtual servers and desktops, terminal servers, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, web development software, Internet, and server applications
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the above stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This work is performed in an office setting, on buses, and on city streets. The incumbent will be exposed to dust, diesel fumes and/or airborne particles. Work may require some level of mobility including lifting or moving materials. Will also be sitting for long periods of time at a computer.
