Job Posting for COMMUNITY SUPERVISION OFFICER I, Community Supervision & Corrections Dept. at Tarrant County

This position will supervise probationers/defendants under court-ordered community supervision in a manner that will reduce continued criminal conduct and promote successful rehabilitation.

It will serve to assist probationers/defendants in maintaining a crime-free lifestyle by effectively managing and positively motivating, enforcing compliance with court orders, responding quickly to violations, employing a progressive sanctions model and applying evidence-based practices to supervision strategies.

  1. Meets regularly with probationers/defendants to ensure compliance with court-ordered conditions.
  2. Conducts state-mandated risk assessments and other assessments as appropriate to determine probationer/defendant needs.
  3. Conducts home and field visits to monitor probationer/defendant behavior in the community.
  4. Maintains case management files and documents all interactions with probationers/defendants.
  5. Prepares violations reports and modifications, attends necessary court proceedings, and testifies as needed.
  6. Maintains records in compliance with State standards, grant conditions, and department policies and procedures.
  7. Communicates with referral agencies and victims as needed.
  8. Completes pre-sentence investigation reports.
  9. Runs computerized criminal history reports, orders arrest reports, and conducts driver license checks.
  10. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
TO APPLY, must have a Bachelor’s degree.  

TO APPLY, must hold a valid driver license and liability insurance.

Case management experience preferred. 

Must pass State certification within one year of employment.  

Meet and maintain CJAD training hours requirement.  

Knowledge and understanding of CJAD Standards.  

Knowledge and understanding of Department Policies and Procedures.  

Skilled at interviewing and assessing for risk and criminogenic need. 

Skilled in developing supervision plans.  

Proficient with CSCD information systems to include, but not limited to, CSCD electronic case management system(s), Tarrant County Mainframe, and Microsoft Office Software.  

Effective Communication.  

Dedication to quality development within the CSCD.  

Attention to detail.  Investigative skills.  Willingness to accept and promote change and flexibility.

CSCD will conduct background checks on all new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and bend.  Lifting and transporting case files to court.  Requires working with unpredictable and potentially violent probationers in an office setting as well as the probationer’s home environment.  Exposure to communicable and contagious diseases.

Regular attendance is essential.   Incumbent must arrive at work on time, prepared to perform assigned duties and work assigned schedule.  Incumbent must have the ability to work well with others.  Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves and others.  Requested accommodations to work hours and schedules are considered on an individual basis.

Salary : $26 - $27
