The Public Health Data Exchange Supervisor leads a team that works across multiple internal divisions and program areas for interoperability needs.
The Data Exchange Supervisor directs the transformation of information from a variety of sources and formats to enable accurate and timely reporting and messaging.

- Identifies and deploys the necessary resources to effectively and accurately report and receive timely public health data including electronic lab reports, electronic case reports, syndromic surveillance, and immunization registry.
- Determines and applies computationally intensive techniques (e.g. record linkage, transformation of complex datasets, and handling large data) needed to convert raw data into compatible exchange formatting.
- Uses knowledge and understanding of data processes to recognize data inaccuracies and communicates unsatisfactory data quality to the responsible stakeholders.
- Identifies and pursues opportunities for data exchange and interoperability of public health data systems.
- Coordinates with Information Technology to develop requirements and specifications for critical healthcare and public health electronic data interfaces, databases, and supporting processes.
- Provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching to program staff.
- Ensures that resources, time, and attention are allocated in proportion to organization priorities.
- Identifies issues, problems, and opportunities and determines if action is needed.
- Provides leadership and creative solutions to program planning and problem solving.
- Seeks, develops, and delivers useful and relevant training for growth and performance enhancement to develop and maintain informatics competencies of PH staff.
- Maintains high level of knowledge of current public health and population health informatics applications, trends, and changes in various health information technologies.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum Requirements

TO APPLY, must have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, or a related field Three (3) full-time years of work experience in leadership and health informatics roles as well as experience with health information data exchange, data exchange format standards (e.g., C-CDA, FHIR), and reading/writing electronic health messages.
OR
TO APPLY, must have a Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, or a related field One (1) full-time year of work experience in leadership and health informatics roles as well as experience with health information data exchange, data exchange format standards (e.g., C-CDA, FHIR), and reading/writing electronic health messages. Master’s degree is highly preferred.
Experience in a health-related field with knowledge of disease investigation protocols, reporting procedures, and data exchange is required.
Experience with managing large and complex datasets is preferred.
Knowledge of database applications, spreadsheets, computing systems, and data analysis programs is required.
Knowledge of HIPAA and Meaningful Use requirements is required.
Knowledge of programs used for data processing and analysis (e.g. R, Python, SAS, etc.) is required.
Knowledge of standard data formats as well as JSON, HL7, and XML is required.
