General Description:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director and the Program Managers, the Maintenance Worker will maintain the facilities, parking lots, mechanical systems, machines and tools and the yards for all Tarry House, Inc. sites. The Maintenance Worker will also be responsible to ensure agency vehicles are maintained within manufacture’s guidelines. Lastly, while working closely with the Manager of Programs, the Maintenance Worker will ensure all health and safety inspections and guidelines are followed.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Performs routine maintenance and cleaning as scheduled with administrative staff.
2. Performs seasonal floor maintenance and carpet cleaning.
3. Monitors and keeps all fire exits and entrances clear of debris, leaves, snow and ice. Maintains clear entrances and exits, using snow blower and shovels as needed.
4. Routinely cleans and organizes storage areas, closets, attic, boiler room and garage.
5. Repairs and maintains equipment and furnishings.
6. Maintains regular maintenance for agency vehicles to include; fueling, cleaning, checking and leveling
fluids, checking and maintaining air pressure in tires, replacing wiper blades, bulbs, and breather filters.
Request approval and follows through on major vehicle repairs and scheduled maintenance.
7. Performs lawn and garden services to include; mowing, feeding, weeding, re-seeding and edging the lawn, trimming and replacing shrubbery, planting gardens, minor tree pruning and removal of limbs and leaves, as needed.
8. Maintains painted and varnished surfaces by cleaning, repairing, priming and painting equipment,
furnishings, walls, ceilings and trim on a regular basis.
9. Provides light plumbing services to include; fixing leaks, maintaining toilets in working order, replaces
supply lines, traps, shut offs and faucets as needed. Cleans and caulks bathroom areas. Unplugs and cleans routinely all drains.
10. Provides light electrical services to include; replacing bulbs, cords, shades, batteries, switches, outlets, wall switches and dimmers. Maintains windows and screens in a clean, operable manner.
11. Monitors heaters & furnace for safe operating condition and repair if possible. Monitors, cleans, and maintains fans, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, lawn and garden machinery, snow blower, and other
seasonal equipment prior to use.
12. Provides light carpentry services to include; building shelves, hanging doors, repairing and replacing locks, hinges and door closers, hanging pictures, repairing drywall and plaster, repairing flooring and
molding and painting as needed.
13. Moves and relocates furnishings and equipment as needed.
14. Assist the Executive Director with the storage, retention and destruction of all administrative records.
15. Attends appropriate conferences and trainings to increase skills and knowledge of job related functions.
16. Follows all rules of confidentiality, ethical behavior and Person Served Rights.
17. Completes other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Must possess at least a high school education or GED.
· Minimum of three years (3) experience in the maintenance field.
· Must be able to lift and carry at least 75lbs. And frequently lift and carry 50lbs.
· Must be able to utilize a personal computer to prepare reports, checklists etc.
· Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License, have a dependable automobile and carry auto insurance according to Ohio Law.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members, the Board of Trustees, community leaders and social services agency staff.
· Ability to prepare and issue clear concise instructions, either verbal or written.
· Ability to interpret and at times develop policy and procedures related to job duties.
· Ability to use practical application of system of real numbers, fractions, percentages and ratios. Ability to compile, compute and present mathematical information.
· Ability to complete forms and prepare reports.
· Ability to analyze data.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
