Task Management is currently looking for a Automation Technician.
Summary
The Automation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, support, and improvement of the facility's plant floor control system.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot production problems and system failures when they occur on a timely basis until successful resolution, including major and minor maintenance of automated and non-automated equipment
- Maintain and modify PLC programs to support the day-to-day operation of the facility
- Review (with Controls Manager) key plant metrics/KPIs and equipment data to identify potential areas for continuous improvement then lead a team to develop an engineered solution
- Provide second-level support to the maintenance department.
- Provide support for the manufacturing Controls networks and act as a liaison between plant personnel, corporate engineering, and IT when needed (Knowledge of server systems is a plus)
- Manage automation software on department PC’s as well as ensure all control devices are up to date with firmware and software revisions
- Records, repair, and preventative maintenance data into a computerized maintenance management system for future troubleshooting use
- Obtains and executes work orders from maintenance planner
- Performs preventative maintenance inspections, calibration, and routine diagnostic checks of automated systems
- Programs, debugs, and troubleshoots PLC ladder logic
- Monitors automated equipment throughout production run to ensure the operation is within specified process parameters
- Assist in maintaining a library for all device back-ups and updates
- Ensure equipment in the area is maintained, guarded, and operated in accordance with defined safety regulations and procedures
- Identify potential cost savings and cost avoidance; implement continuous improvement projects to achieve results
- Work closely with Maintenance and Operator Technician teams to assure that they are properly trained in the use of the plant control systems.
- Work with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Consultants to solve system-related problems
- Manage change control and keep validation of plant Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Provide technical support on capital projects
- Provide on-call support for on-shift Technical Resources
- Work in conjunction with the Network administrator to maintain the Facility Controls Network (hardware and software)
- Document changes made to software and hardware (electrical and Process & Instrumentation prints).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Technical degree in a related field, AAM graduation, or equivalent experience
- Strong experience with automation software, controls, PLCs
- Strong overall electrical knowledge and experience with control systems.
- Technicians must provide their own hand tools; large and specialty tools will be provided by the company
Hours
- 12-hour night shifts (2-2-every other weekend Schedule)
- Willing to work shift schedules plus overtime as dictated by the needs of the business, including weekends and holidays.
Pay
- Sign on bonus
- $35.00 - 45.00 per hour DOE (w/2.00 shift differential)
