Plant Technician

POSITION TITLE: Plant Technician Level 1

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for responding to process monitoring, maintenance, and operation of the assigned plant systems; microgrid and power systems, refrigeration systems, and other plant equipment.

RELATIONSHIPS: The Plant Technician will report directly to the Power Manager.

POSITION DETAILS:

• Report to: Power Manager    
• FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
• Employment Category: Fulltime
• Pay Range: $19.50 - $22.50

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform plant equipment operations in accordance with company procedures, and in compliance with state and federal regulatory standards.
• Log plant activities major maintenance, major events such as plant power trips, visitors to Microgrid and Refrigeration and report data from power and steam.
• Monitoring the microgrid and refrigeration systems using SCADA, Gateway, TECHMARK: responding to alarms and recovering equipment from forced shutdowns such as trips.
• Enforce permits such as Lockout/Tagout, hot work permit, line-breaking permit, and confined space entry.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, modifications, testing and inspections plant equipment such as Refrigeration and Cogen.
• Reads temperature gauges, pressure gauges, Level gauges, Flow gauges, conducts consumable inventories, parts inventory, and generates Power Generation reports.
• Collaborates in maintenance and construction projects.
• Stowing tools, parts, equipment and maintaining work area neat.

Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• 1 year experience with basic skills of one or more of the following:

1. 1. Industrial equipment operations.
   2. Electrical controls, instrumentation, and automation.
   3. Mechanical repair and maintenance.
   4. Refrigeration and ammonia systems.

• Must be able to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to work with rotating responsibilities.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must always follow company GMP Policy guidelines.
• Must be able to work with Windows -based software such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and PDF.

• Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

1. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
2. Experience in food manufacturing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the facility for extended periods.
• Ability to use power tools.
• Capable of bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to perform various maintenance tasks.
• Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
• Capable of operating basic hand tools and equipment as required for maintenance tasks.
• Must be able to work in high noise and high temperature and dust areas.
