What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Controller position at Tatum?
Tatum was recently engaged by a long-term client of ours to replace a departing Controller for a $400M company located in Columbus, GA. Both interim and permanent candidates are considered. Regional Travelers are considered and interim candidates will/can be considered for the permanent position.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash
disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credit and collections, perpetual inventory integrity,
fixed asset records, general accounting, cost accounting, and sales and use tax and income tax
reporting.
Issue timely monthly financial reporting package and other ad-hoc reports as necessary for
management and Board of Directors, Investors, and Lenders.
Manage and develop accounting staff. Supervisory responsibilities will be carried out in
accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs,
capital expenditures, products costing or other projects as appropriate.
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
Safeguard assets and ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing
disciplines of internal controls and checks across all departments
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
Coordinate with HR Manager to ensure all payroll functions are handled appropriately and timely.
Manage commercial banking relationships to facilitate an appropriate credit resource under highly
competitive terms. Coordinate provision of information for compliance with covenants if
applicable.
Interface with outside audit firms(s) and coordinate annual or other periodic audits.
Interface with banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and
collection agencies.
Ensure compliance to all quality standards and certifications where applicable.
Perform other duties as necessary.
ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Must be analytical and highly skilled with Excel and have experience with financial accounting
and ERP system NetSuite
Effective and persuasive presentation skills on controversial or complex topics to top
management and/or board of directors.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to respond effectively to the most
sensitive inquiries and complaints.
Controller must use the utmost discretion in all presentations/correspondence and
communication.
