What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mid-Level Product Designer position at Tava Health?
If you had all day to work on any project you wanted, chances are that you would pick something you’re passionate about. It might even be something that could change people’s lives for the better. At Tava Health, that’s exactly what we’ve done. We’re passionate about lifting the mental health standard in our world and strive to make meaningful connection between providers and clients accessible and easy. The work we do meaningfully improves people's lives.
As a Product Designer, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact. This is a true startup experience. We’re looking for someone who is invigorated by our mission, who will connect on a deep empathetic level with our users, and who will push the boundaries to create a next-level experience at each and every interaction.
What you’ll be doing
- Autonomous and self-driven work. We’re big on collaboration, but we hire smart people who know how to pick apart a problem on their own, and who recognize deep inside that asking for help makes the outcome better for all.
- Humbly recognize when you don’t have the answers and when research (either quantitative or qualitative) could lend more confidence to the decision.
- Conduct UX research for projects, including user outreach, recruiting, and synthesizing research findings in collaboration with the product manager.
- Generate sketches, wireframes, and ideate potential solutions individually or in collaboration with other product thinkers.
- Design final mockups that could only be described as clean, elegant, data driven, user-centric experiences that delight users and that align with the Tava brand's design language.
- Collaborate with product managers and developers from discovery to delivery, considering input from various stakeholders like the operations, clinical, and sales teams.
- Contribute to the growth and advocacy of our design system.
- Embrace empathy in all interactions with users, stakeholders, and colleagues.
We’re a startup, so we need pinch-hitters. Though not a core part of your day-to-day, we’d be delighted if you were eager to pinch-hit occasionally in these areas:
- Print and Marketing design (direct mailers, collateral, posters, etc)
- Apparel and Swag (everybody loves t-shirts and stickers)
- Copywriting (UX microcopy, product walkthroughs, etc)
Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in product design.
- Strong foundation in UX design (user research, analysis, information architecture, wireframing) and UI design (interaction, visual).
- Familiarity with various research methods, including discovery interviews, contextual inquiry, prototype tests, live A/B tests, and survey writing.
- Ability to give and receive design criticism constructively.
- A portfolio demonstrating a clean visual aesthetic, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills (portfolio link required).
- User-centered mindset with business acumen.
- Comfortable with Figma, but more comfortable with pencil and paper
- Growth mindset with a strong eagerness to learn and grow.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Benefits:
- Competitive Salary and Stock options
- Tava mental health benefit where you’ll have access to your own personal therapist (available to you and your dependents)
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance (available to you and your dependents)
- Up to $1200/year contributed to your Health Savings Account
- 401(k)
- Paid holidays and PTO
- Remote work
- Parental leave
- Paid team lunches every Friday
My Promise to You as a Manager I’ll bring my whole self to work, and hope you feel comfortable bringing your whole self too. I care deeply about my people and want to make sure you are getting what you need from your experience working with Tava. You should get just as much (or more) out of working here as Tava gets from you. I value your growth and development, and we will have ongoing conversations on how to grow in your career. I’m a strong believer in Multiplier leadership and will constantly be seeking feedback for what I might do to improve and expect the same from you. — Devin Little, Head of Design
