The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Privacy and Corporate Compliance Manager to join our growing team! In this role, you will work closely with our Legal, Information Security, Information Technology, and Marketing teams to help develop and execute on strategies and programs for the company’s overall compliance. This role will focus on data privacy and advertising, with opportunity to develop a broad compliance program across other areas. You must be able to collaborate effectively across the company to ensure that legal and regulatory risks are understood, communicated, and mitigated effectively. You will be required to have seasoned judgment and a demonstrated ability to manage complex and novel issues across federal and state legal and regulatory landscapes.

The ideal candidate will have experience within the financial services industry for developing and implementing internal compliance policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, creating training and awareness events, advising business partners and service providers regarding legal and regulatory requirements and best practices, and monitoring and reporting on practices to ensure the business and its functions comply with the applicable requirements and achieve best practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain a robust general corporate compliance program, with a special focus on compliance in data privacy and advertising
  • Perform periodic risk assessments of business and operational activities to identify compliance gaps and potential exposure
  • Proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks
  • Develop strong internal controls to promote an effective compliance control environment
  • Analyze, prepare, and monitor metrics related to assess the performance of the compliance program
  • Partner with business leaders to remediate compliance findings identified in internal and external evaluations and audits
  • Monitor the regulatory landscape, such as pertinent privacy laws and regulations, to stay apprised of important developments and political changes that could inform internal policies and practices
  • Keep pace of demands of business by anticipating problems, offering appropriate solutions, and providing the necessary leadership to implement changes effectively
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the company on data privacy matters
  • Assist with developing and implementing business and regulatory strategies for data governance
  • Assist in contract review process in support of privacy and Information Security programs
  • Manage data access requests with Customer Growth and Information Security teams
  • Review advertising and marketing materials for compliance with advertising laws and regulations
  • Assist in regulatory actions, particularly the FTC, IRS, or CFPB

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in data privacy, advertising, or related compliance experience, with a minimum of three years of financial services industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, J.D. degree preferred
  • Experience in handling regulatory matters, ability to communicate and work effectively with various regulatory agencies
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to express technical concepts for general audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and delegate when appropriate
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. laws and regulations relating to data privacy, advertising, and financial institutions (knowledge of IRS regulations is a plus)
  • Privacy or information security certifications are a plus (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPM, etc.)
  • Knowledge of web accessibility and other compliance areas is a plus
