What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Taylor Farms?
Purpose of Role:
The role of the Operations’ Manager is to control and manage the day to day performance of all production and warehouse areas within the facility.
Role Requirements:
- As the Operations’ Manager, you are part of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and shall work collaboratively with that team to ensure company objectives are achieved.
- You will be responsible for the daily coordination, improvement and execution of all food manufacturing operations, overseeing Production, Warehouse, and driving Continuous Improvement efforts and efficiencies.
- You will be accountable for cost management, including equipment efficiencies, waste, direct labor and materials, whilst generating reports on these financial targets and other KPI’s.
- You will be driven by targets and have a proven track record of achieving the highest standards of food safety and hygiene in line with the current regulatory bodies and corporate requirements.
- With the assistance of senior team and other colleagues, you will contribute to the formulation and implementation of the business strategy with clear plans stretching up to six months ahead to meet anticipated business requirements.
- Providing inspirational leadership and direction to the Operations’ teams you shall ensure that people are kept safe, engaged, focused and delivering to their potential with clear understanding of their objects and deliverables.
- You will highlight areas of underperformance and take mitigating action that will deliver labor/waste targets and provide inspirational leadership
Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver all Production KPI's and budgets to target.
- Drive cost efficiency projects to deliver cost base improvements.
- Ensuring adherence to plan and control of all manufacturing management activities.
- Identify training and development needs of staff.
- Promote a continuous improvement culture, encouraging TQM and Lean Manufacturing approaches.
- Have all Production departments, Engineering, and Continuous Improvement reporting into you.
- Have overall accountability for all aspects of manufacturing performance, health/safety and environmental impact at the manufacturing facility.
- Be responsible for total site manufacturing headcount based at the business unit sites.
- Consistently identify opportunities to improve quality and reduce cost.
- Create an environment conducive to personal development to ensure a robust succession pool.

Work Experience and Qualifications Expected:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a management position
- Minimum 5 years previous foodservice/retail manufacturing experience
- Ability to demonstrate effective decision-making skills
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels
- The management of a variable skills level team
- Strong leadership skills
