Chief Accountant

Scope of Position

The Chief Accountants primary responsibility is assisting members in resolving issues related to their accounts, coordinating accounts, processing payments, and posting daily work; ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and maintaining acceptable levels of internal control.

Position Requirements

• Prior accounts receivable experience in a related area,
• Club Membership accounting experience preferred.
• Prior experience using Jonas system, preferred.
• Process the Club Dues report daily, ensuring accuracy in inputting new membership types and service codes.
• Must be flexible to work some weekends.
• Outstanding customer relations and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Must have intermediate Excel knowledge.
• Must be able to work with, understand and interpret financial information, integrated worksheets, hotel operations data and complex arithmetic functions.
• Minimum of 2 years experience working in a large-scale hotel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle all administrative functions relating to Club dues billing to ensure invoice accuracy to all our Club members.
• Accurately research, track, and resolve club member inquiries.
• Distribution of monthly statement.
• Process the Club Dues report daily, ensuring accuracy in inputting new membership types and service codes.
• Run charge back reports and connect with members accordingly to facilitate the collection of amounts disputed.
• Updated credit card records of all members accounts.
• Reconcile credit card transaction & post payments.
• Maintain proper controls and confidentiality over documents.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with accounting team.
• Comply with all policies and standard operating procedures of the hotel and its management company.
• Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information.
• Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts.
• Assist Membership Department with member services when needed.
• Perform any other duties requested by Accounting or Membership management.

Education

• 2-year University/College degree in Finance, Accounting or related major.

OR

• 4-year University/College degree in Finance, Accounting or related major.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
• Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets as well as analyze and summarize financial data using appropriate financial software.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly, correctly, and in a way that allows one to solve work-related issues.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
• Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and work independently.
• Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Physical Requirements

• On a continuous basis, sit at a desk for long periods of time in front of a computer screen.
• Intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies surrounding desk.
• Use telephone and computer keyboard on a daily basis.
• Must be physically fit in order to lift, pull and push items up to 50 pounds.
• Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
