The opportunity
Our USGO Heartland – Badger South Area team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Wisconsin to support the operation, maintenance, testing, and inspection of our natural gas pipelines and associated facilities throughout Southern Wisconsin.
We are seeking a skilled Pipeline Technician who possesses knowledge and experience of high-pressure natural gas pipeline systems, gas measurement facilities, and other related equipment.
This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
What you’ll do
- Perform pipeline maintenance activities such as: patrol pipeline, lubricate valves, install cathodic protection systems and anodes, blow drips, clear right-of-way, and monitor heaters
- Locate and mark pipelines through the Wisconsin one call system (Diggers Hotline)
- Remove freezes in pipelines, drips, or meters
- Communicate with contractors, the general public, landowners, and government agencies relative to gas operations
- Operate company truck, small dozer, brush hog, and/or backhoe to perform operation and maintenance duties
- Perform general housekeeping duties for company facilities
- Periodically assist in leak repairs and surveys
- Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new notifications, etc. in SAP
- Operate and maintain natural gas pipelines and associated equipment
- Other tasks as required
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a related industry or discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience repairing pipeline leaks
- Experience locating and marking pipelines
- Valid Class A commercial driver’s license or the ability to obtain the license post hire
- Mechanical knowledge, skills, and experience
This position requires candidates to
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
- Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, to include drug and alcohol testing
- Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
- Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures
