The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, ROW Maintenance, the ROW Project Manager will supervise contractors and activities associated with both vegetative and non-vegetative maintenance strategies for TC Energy's pipeline rights-of-way (“ROW”), storage wells and facility lots in support of the company’s objective of maintaining clear accessibility to its facilities while providing safe, reliable and compliant natural gas transmission and storage services. Leads individuals and teams focused on maintenance of ROW and company facilities, in addition to other related projects. Responsible for developing and managing multi-million-dollar project budgets. This individual must have the ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment with respect to significant maintenance project activities.
What you’ll do
Manages multi-disciplinary project teams, from initiation of the project to final project close out;- Demonstrated understanding of safe work practices related to project execution;
- Works with stakeholder teams in developing adaptable multi-year vegetation management plan; updates plan as necessary and ensures timely execution
- Effectively communicates maintenance activities with all pertinent stakeholders
- Manages multiple maintenance project budgets; includes budget forecasting and tracking actual spending over the full course of a project; coordinates with various departments to ensure invoicing and payments are categorized accurately
- Collaborates with Land on landowner agreement research and support in conjunction with maintenance projects; works closely with legal department as necessary in resolving potential legal issues
- Develops conclusions, recommendations, and offers advice for management, which includes consideration of financial, regulatory, commercial, legal and operational elements of a proposed transaction or project
- Develops and implements policies and procedures concerning ROW maintenance activities;
- Assists the leadership team in development and implementation of leadership initiatives; assists department management with administration of group policy and procedure
- Reviews and provides insight and recommendations to management on issues that affect or may affect the Company's objectives
- Acts as the company representative in interactions with business partners and third parties, such as government agencies, to identify issues, develop solutions and implement those solutions
- Trains staff employees; provides mentoring and additional oversight to ROW Specialists and Technologists
- Manages and monitors outside service providers, related invoicing and budgets
- Contracts and oversees outside service providers performing vegetation management, including requesting and reviewing contractor bids
- Providing necessary information for project execution and ensuring work is completed to company standards
- Maintains a high level of knowledge on standard industry contracts as well as current industry trends
- Develop and manage budgets and contribute to the successful achievement of overall company financial objectives
- Perform analysis and make proactive decisions to reduce costs, increase quality and efficiency, improve process, manage and optimize the use of human and financial resources
- Manage effective negotiations. Work with the public sector and interact with property owners along the ROWs
- Works independently and provides superior customer service in a timely and efficient manner
- Other tasks as required
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required- Applicants without a bachelor's degree, but who have significant experience may align to the Technologist job ladder
- Minimum 6 years of related experience
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent project management skills; ability to manage multiple large projects simultaneously
- Ability to prepare and deliver oral and written presentations
- Ability to interpret complex legal and business documents
- Ability to develop conclusions, recommendations, and opinions for management’s consideration;
- Energetic, proactive, inventive and creative thinker
- Ability to understand how decisions interact with company goals and ability to provide direction to team members that is consistent with company objectives
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Excellent people skills with the ability to develop relationships internally and externally and at all organizational levels
Preferred Qualifications
Strong leadership skills; ability to effectively communicate with and provide guidance to various individuals on project team- Able to establish credibility and be decisive, with ability to recognize and support the organization's preferences and priorities
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively across an organization
- Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of GIS mapping tools, environmental regulations, forestry practices, and herbicide application a plus
- This position requires candidates to:
Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home.
