What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Engineer position at TCOM, L.P.?
TCOM LP has an opportunity for a Network Engineer to join our talented engineering organization. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options. Responsible for implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network. Advising network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations. Maintaining technical background in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
Working Procedure:
- Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN, & VPN’s).
- Configure and install software, servers, routers, switches and other network devices.
- Monitor local and remote networks for performance and integrity.
- Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness.
- Create and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery).
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for installation, configuration, and maintenance procedures.
- Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, security, and scalability.
- Provide tier 2 support, working both over the phone and desk-side with end-users.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in software or computer science, or related field. Equivalent amount of education and experience may be substituted. CCNA certification preferred. Security or Network certification required or be able to attain within 6 months of hire.
Experience Requirement: Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience. Candidates must have a practical, working knowledge of the setup and configuration of computer networks including basic communication protocols, security and backup of data.
